This article is the next step following my previous publication in this journal, Complexity Science in the Debate on the Future of Competition Law. Just as the first article presented four distinct initiatives for competition law informed by complexity science, this piece introduces their essential propositions. I will explain how complexity increases, why the modern economy has become so complex, and the consequences of this process. The article is divided into three sections. The first describes changes that make the early 21st century a pivotal moment for unlocking the evolution of the economic paradigm within competition law. The second section summarizes critiques of the currently dominant paradigm, explaining the analytical shortcomings of neoclassical economics when faced with the growing complexity of the modern economy. The final section uses this context to briefly present the most important propositions of the previously mentioned initiatives.
